De Giraf.

( Una llibreria infantil i juvenil dels Països Baixos )

Va ser tota una sorpresa quan vaig trobar aquesta llibreria infantil i juvenil al poble de Dordrecht, al sud est d´Holanda, aquest estiu.

Aquesta és una d´aquelles llibreries que convida a entrar. Ubicada en un d´aquells edificis d´arquitectura típica dels Països Baixos.

L´aparador és petit, tan sols una finestra amb alguns llibres i contes col.locats a fora per tal que la gent que passi se´ls miri i no els prengui.

Un cop a dins, tot està farcit de literatura, classificada per edats, i majoritàriament d´autors i il.lustradors holandesos i nòrdics. I és clar, tot en neerlandès. També s´hi poden trobar murals, postals i audiovisuals referents al món de literatura, però sobretot de la part nòrdica.

Aquesta estada ha sigut una oportunitat per conèixer autors, il.lustradors, històries, paisatges i imatges d´una altra cultura, que té molt a oferir.

I could not believe what my eyes saw when I arrived at Dordrecht, a town in the south of
The Netherlands: a children´s literature bookshop called De Giraf. It is located in one of those nice buildings from the typical and historic architecture from the Netherlands.

That was fantastic, and of course, I came into that beautiful place just when I arrived at Dordrecht, I needed to have a look !. Although my second time in the bookstore was longer. I had so much fun discovering new talented artists and ways of telling stories.


The bookshop is full of books, tales, among funny and valuable posters and postcards related to reading scenes and famous characters. So great. All the literature is in Dutch, and properly classified by range of ages.
It is a truly cosy place to spend hours and hours discovering not only new authors, illustrators, but also other landscapes, images and stories, characters and values.

It was an incredible experience to discover new literature and culture.


I would say that De Giraf is a lovely treasure with a very friendly staff working and appreciating the love for children´s literature.
